Paul D’Arelli served as the first Senior Vice President of Development at Seritage Growth Properties when the company went public in 2015 (NYSE: SRG) where he oversaw development across the 235-property portfolio, and also managed the company’s Florida office for 5 years. Primarily focused on the national premiere and mixed use project opportunities, Paul personally led the entitlement and redevelopment efforts at notable projects such as Esplanade at Aventura and The Social at Westfield Broward in Florida, and led development efforts at other properties in diverse locations including Madison WI, Asheville NC and St. Paul MN.
Paul also chaired Seritage’s Hospitality Initiative, working with major hotel brands and developers across the country to identify and execute on opportunities to locate hotels on Seritage properties, and was involved in the multifamily, senior housing and medical office initiatives.
In 2012 before joining Seritage, Paul founded National Development Advisors and he and his team provided development advisory services to Sears Holdings Corporation for three years, working nationally across the 900+ owned Sears and K-Mart portfolio to identify and commence development opportunities that could create value with the company’s real estate. National Development Advisors’ work was instrumental in informing the portfolio that spanned 49 states that was spun out of Sears Holdings into Seritage.
Having practiced law for 16 years prior to forming National Development Advisors as a land use and development lawyer in Florida and California, including 14 years at national firm Greenberg Traurig, Paul has extensive experience navigating large-scale mixed-use developments for REITs and other public and private owners alike.
Paul is a licensed California General Building Contractor and is licensed to practice law in California and Florida. He holds a Master of Laws Degree (LL.M.) in Real Property Development from the University of Miami School of Law, a Juris Doctor (J.D.), with Great Distinction from the University of the Pacific, McGeorge School of Law, and Bachelor’s Degree in Business Finance from California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo.
